“Too many of us are not living our dreams because
we are living our fears.” ~Les Brown
The purpose of setting goals in life is to inspire ourselves to stretch out of our comfort zones.
But going beyond what’s comfortable and familiar can sometimes feel a bit scary.
And often the bigger the goal, the scarier it feels!
If you stop and take a closer look at it though, you’ll notice that fear and excitement have pretty much the same sensations…
Often your heart starts pounding, your chest begins to feel tight and you maybe even start feeling a little light headed.
Fear and excitement are actually two sides of the same coin.
One of the main differences between the two though is that one leaves you feeling anxious and disempowered, while the other leaves you feeling energized and ALIVE.
When you start feeling that heart-pounding, chest-tightening feeling in the face of doing something new or taking on a big challenge to create positive change in your life, don’t resist it.
Instead, consider leaning into it!
Accept these sensations as proof that you’re about to stretch yourself outside of your comfort zone to move closer to something that you want for yourself and your life, and then make a simple choice:
Do you choose to label these sensations as “fear” and contract, pull back and shut down?
Or do you choose to call them “excitement” and expand, rise to the challenge and spring into action?
The choice is always yours.
