“Good things come to people who wait, but better things
come to those who go out and get them.” ~Anonymous
Having your own blog is a great way to:
- Establish yourself as an authority in your area of expertise
- Attract new potential customers to you
- And continue building a relationship with your existing fans and followers
But for your blog to be successful at one or all of these things, you must post fresh, valuable content on an ongoing basis.
I recommend you publish new blog posts at least twice a week.
But for many people, this is a tall order.
Life gets busy, right?
And I get it… who has the time to sit around writing blog posts all day?
Well, the good news is you don’t have to go it alone.
Here are a few fantastic ways that you can get other people to write awesome blog posts for you:
TACTIC #1: Hire others to write content for you
There are several great websites you can go to where you can find freelance writers willing to write blog posts for you on almost any topic of your choice… and for a lot less than you may think.
On a site like HireWriters.com, for example, you can hire decent writers to write blog posts of up to 500 words for you for less than $20.
A few other great freelancer-for-hire websites to check out are Elance.com and ODesk.com.
TACTIC #2: Ask people to write for you for free
Take a look at popular blogs in your same niche.
If they feature blog posts written by guest contributors, these posts will usually contain the name and often a link back to the guest contributor’s website.
Then, get in contact with these writers and ask if they’d be interested in writing content for your blog too.
Be sure to mention that you’d be happy to include a few short sentences about who they are and what their expertise is, along with a link back to their website.
You may also want to take a look in the comments section of popular blogs…
If you notice a particular reader tends to leave comments on a regular basis, consider replying to them and ask them if they’d be interested in contributing to your blog… many times, their answer will be an emphatic YES!
If you’re relatively new to blogging and you don’t get a lot of traffic though, it may be tough for you to offer exposure to writers in exchange for free content.
So in this case, you may want to try…
TACTIC #3: Do a “content swap”
This is when you approach another blogger and basically offer to exchange content, like this:
“Hey, I love your blog! I think your content is great. Now, here’s an idea… would you be open to a content swap? I’ll provide you with a blog post you can publish on your blog, along with a link back to my blog… and in exchange, you give me a blog post that I can publish, along with a link back to your blog. This way, we both get fresh content for our blogs and hopefully we’ll trade some traffic too!”
For this to work, you ideally want to approach bloggers who appear to be at roughly the same level or just above where you are.
If you’re just starting out for example, and you approach a high-powered blogger who gets thousands of visitors a day about a content swap, they’ll likely let you know that it’s not a good use of their time (and they’d be right).
Instead, aim to find bloggers who are still on their way up, and you’ll have more luck making your content swapping strategy a success.
You can do it!
